I'm excited to announce that I’ll be joining Art and Michelle Helin on their new podcast called Own The Season. We will have some great Hunters and industry leaders on each episode that will share some great information to help you own your season.
My brother Mike Jones and myself talk about hunting waterfowl in North Dakota in the early 1990’s. Both Mike and I were raised hunting waterfowl on the Mississippi river and throughout southern Wisconsin. We always talk about how we wanted to hunting snow geese, so we purchased a book on waterfowl hunting North Dakota and headed out the next fall to live out a dream. It turned out that we would revisit North Dakota for over 10 seasons to hunt waterfowl and meet some very nice people. I hope you enjoy this episode about two brother’s waterfowl dream.
Episode 10 of Their Story Outdoors Podcast is with John Ford of Pure Pursuit TV and The Wisconsin Rut Report. John lives in from Mineral Point in Southern Wisconsin. We talk about this hunting season, how disappointing the deer movement has been, and how archery deer hunting is a game of inches.
John’s outdoor story is his 2019 hunt and harvesting “Vampire” and a 2020 buck he called “Capone”. We talk about patterning deer early in the season, land management, mock scrapes, and trail cameras. His trial cameras of choice are the Cudde Link System by Cudde Back Digital so he explains the Cudde Link system. We also talk about Ozonics and how he never hunts without it.
Episode 9 of Their Story Outdoors with Tommy Brandenburg from Central Illinois is live. Tommy has harvested some pretty big bucks and the one he took a couple weeks ago is a toad. We talk about his elk hunts in Arizona this year and who it was that introduced him to hunting. Tommy tells me the history with the buck call “First Timer” that he just harvested and how the hunt played out.
I asked him about his routine with rattling, snorting, wheezing, and grunting. As well as using James Valley Scents, Nose Jammer, Tactacam, and the Moon Phase app by Adam Hayes. It was very interesting for me to have Tommy share his knowledge about mock scrapes, hunting with the moon phases, what the perfect day to hunt is, changing his routine for the rut, and what’s growing in his Horny Buck Seed food plots.
Join us for a great story and some tips for a successful hunt.
Terry and his son Jarod are from Waukesha Wisconsin and are teammates in the AIM Pro Walley Series. I have known Terry for years and wanted to get him to tell his outdoor story about walleye tournament fishing through the years. Terry and Jarod have been fishing together since 2011. Before that Terry was part of a team that was awarded the 2007 MWC Team Tournament Team of the Year.
On this podcast, the three of us discuss the changing technology with boats, fish finders, and even the tackle. We also talk about river vs lake fishing techniques, jigging, and trolling, and each of their favorite bodies of water to fish. Terry gives us some great tips about fishing in tournaments and where to find more information if you’re interested.
